Apple CEO Tim Cook repeatedly expressed his interest in augmented reality technology on several occasions. Cooke had previously hinted that even if Apple has explored the relevant helmet market, it will be in AR rather than VR.

"We have a long and high interest in AR," Cook said at the earnings conference call last summer. "We think it is good for consumers and has a good business opportunity. So we have Input."

After a month, Cook called AR as "an extremely interesting core technology," and admitted that they "do a lot" behind the scenes.
