Waterproof design of LED display

Like other electronic devices, LED displays also need to be waterproof and waterproof.

The requirements of Section 5.5 “Enclosure Protection Level” of “General Specification for LED Display SJ/T11141-2012” are shown in Table 1. Section 6.5 specifies the method according to GB4208 2008.

It should be specially noted that the second characteristic number after IP is 6 or less, and as the number becomes larger, the test is gradually becoming stricter. In other words, the LED display labeled IPX6 can also pass the test of IPX5, IPX4, IPX3, IPX2, IPX1, IPX0.

The second characteristic number 7 or 8 after IP is tested, and the types of tests below 6 and 6 are two. That is to say, the identifier is IPX7 or the identifier is IPX8, which does not mean that it meets the requirements of IPX6 and IPX5 at the same time. The LED display that meets the requirements of IPX7 and IPX6 can also be identified as IPX7/IPX6.

In terms of technical difficulty, the design of IPX3, IPX2, IPX1, IPX0 is relatively simple, this article does not discuss.

From the practical application point of view, IPX8 is very rare in the LED display industry, this article does not discuss.

First, the LED display design labeled IPX5

The LED display is similar to the environment in which the car is used. Therefore, the system researches the realization process of the waterproof function of the automobile, and learns from the waterproof technology, which can greatly improve the waterproof reliability of the outdoor LED display.

This paper analyzes and refines the design features of the car door structure, the characteristics of the sealing material and the contact and compression characteristics of the sealing material, so as to obtain waterproof technology that can be used for reference.

1. Design features of the car door structure

The structural design of the car door is shown in Figure 1. As can be seen from the figure, it is designed to have a rain gutter and a drainage hole in addition to the sealing strip. This design allows for water and drainage.
