On February 13, 2014, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announced the launch of a new family of thick film chip resistors designed for high-power surface mount RF applications — the RCP series. The Vishay Dale RCP series features a compact 1206 form factor, offering a power rating of 1W at +70°C and up to 11W with active temperature control. These resistors are ideal for standard printed circuit board mounting.

The RCP series is well-suited for high-power applications in aerospace, military, industrial, and telecommunications systems. It utilizes a stable thick film resistor core enclosed in a resin housing on an aluminum nitride (AlN) ceramic substrate. This design allows for excellent thermal conductivity within a small package, enabling operation over a wide temperature range from -55°C to +155°C.

The RCP series offers resistance values ranging from 10 Ω to 2 kΩ, with tolerances of ±2% and ±5%, and a temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of ±100 ppm/°C. To enhance solderability, the components use tin/lead or lead-free package terminations on a nickel gate. They comply with the RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU and meet JEDEC JS709A halogen-free regulations.
