Saiwei Technology Introduces Low-Cost Drive Solution for Low-Power LED Lighting

Saiwei Technology recently introduced two low-cost drive solutions for the low-power LED lighting industry - SFL628 and SFL629. They use the PSR architecture, in which the SFL628 drives the external power BJT and the SFL629 has a built-in power BJT. They can be widely used in the field of LED spotlights such as GU10, E14 and E29.

The PSR architecture of the driving power BJT is favored by LED lighting driver manufacturers due to its low external components and low system cost. However, the current PSR architecture is susceptible to input voltage and load voltage in terms of constant current accuracy, resulting in a decrease in constant current accuracy. At the same time, since the power BJT has a lower withstand voltage than the power MOSFET, in the extreme case, such as a short circuit or an overload, a breakdown phenomenon is likely to occur, resulting in system damage.

The SFL628 and SFL629 launched by Saiwei Technology have made many innovations and improvements in constant current accuracy. The SFL628 and SFL629 integrate the patented LED constant current "AC input voltage compensation", which reduces the LED output constant current accuracy by the input voltage and reduces the external components of the system. At the same time, SFL628 and SFL629 also improve the accuracy of the internal constant current reference voltage of the chip, and integrate the "output load compensation" of the LED constant current, which greatly improves the load regulation rate and further improves the constant current accuracy of the mass production of the system.

In terms of system protection, in addition to soft-start protection, VDD overvoltage protection, output overvoltage protection, and pin floating protection, the SFL628 and SFL629 also integrate short-circuit protection. In the case of a short circuit, the maximum frequency of the clamping system can greatly reduce the power tube voltage overshoot during short circuit, thereby improving system reliability. The SFL628 is available in a SOT23-5 package and the SFL629 is available in an SOP8 package.
