BYD new energy vehicles and fuel vehicles _ 2017 sales volume reached a new high

In the past century, fuel vehicles have dominated the automotive industry, but they are expected to gradually disappear from the historical stage by the middle of this century, replaced by new energy vehicles. This is not an unfounded claim. Several European countries, including the Netherlands, Norway, and France, have already announced plans to phase out internal combustion engine vehicles between 2025 and 2040. As the world’s largest auto market, China is following the global trend, aligning with the direction of the automotive industry. Over the past year, BYD has seen impressive sales for both new energy and traditional fuel vehicles. From January to November, the company sold a total of 96,617 new energy vehicles, while in December alone, models like the Song DM, Qin, and Tang exceeded 20,000 units delivered. Even fuel vehicles have maintained strong performance, with the 7-seat Song MAX gaining popularity since its launch. In December, it received over 25,000 orders and won multiple awards, including “Most Beautiful Independent MPV” and “Most Popular MPV of the Year.” The five-star SUV family, including the Song, Yuan, and S7, saw a 15% increase in sales during the same period, while the F3 continued to sell more than 10,000 units per month. BYD has consistently led in the global new energy vehicle market, with a market share reaching 13% by the end of last year. In 2017, its new energy vehicles were sold in over 200 cities across six continents. Domestically, more than 50% of sales came from non-restricted cities, breaking through the limitations of restricted zones and local subsidies, accelerating the widespread adoption of electric vehicles. Additionally, BYD's new energy cars now occupy nearly 70% of the mid-to-high-end market priced between 130,000 and 300,000 yuan, solidifying its position as a leader in the industry. Looking ahead to 2018, the success of the Song MAX marks the beginning of a new era for BYD. The company will introduce a full range of Dynasty models, featuring the iconic Dragon Face design. With upcoming models like the new generation of Tang already generating significant buzz, BYD is set to release more innovative products in the coming year. Beyond high value, intelligent connectivity is also a key focus for BYD in building a stronger Chinese brand. Through strategic partnerships with top global companies, the BYD Auto Wisdom Ecology Institute aims to transform the car into a mobile smart terminal, enhancing user experience and driving technological innovation. BYD's achievements in 2017 reflect its inherent strengths and the deepening of its electric future strategy. While 2017 was just the beginning, the real breakthrough is expected to come in line with the growth cycle of China’s new energy market.
