At CES 2018, Sony unveiled its latest television lineup, including the A8F series of OLED TVs and the X900F series of LCD models. The A8F features Sony's powerful 4K HDR processor, the X1 Extreme, along with Acoustic Surface technology that allows the screen itself to act as a speaker. This innovation brings a more immersive audio-visual experience. The X900F also comes equipped with the X1 Extreme processor, marking an upgrade from previous models. Notably, this year’s lineup includes an 85-inch version of the X900F, expanding the size options for consumers. The A8F is particularly impressive, featuring the same X1 Extreme processor found in other high-end models. It supports popular HDR formats like HDR10 and Dolby Vision, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of content. The Acoustic Surface technology, first introduced on the A1E, has been refined in the A8F. Unlike its predecessor, which relied on a separate frame for support, the A8F uses a bottom metal base, offering better stability and a sleeker design. The X900F model also benefits from the X1 Extreme processor, paired with Sony’s X-Dynamic Contrast PRO 6x technology, which optimizes backlight levels across different areas of the screen for improved contrast and color accuracy. To enhance motion clarity, the X900F includes the X-Motion Clarity feature, which helps reduce blur during fast-paced scenes, making it ideal for sports and action movies. Sony also announced at CES 2018 that it is working on an even more advanced processor called the X1 Ultimate, which will offer double the processing power of the X1 Extreme.
