Rich in on-chip resources and high performance

The EM358x family combines a complete system-on-a-chip, including a 2.4GHz IEEE 802.15.4-2003 compliant wireless transceiver, a 32bit ARM® CortexTM-M3-based microprocessor, flash memory, RAM and other peripherals based on the ZigBee system. The EM358x has two embedded flash options: 256KB and 512KB. There are also two options for integrated data and program memory RAM: 32KB or 64KB, and powerful hardware to support network level debugging.

The EM358x family of SoC-optimized embedding software uses a loss-average algorithm that greatly enhances the lifecycle of embedded flash. The EM358x system-on-chip offers a range of advanced power management features to extend battery life. An internal high frequency RC oscillator allows the processor core to execute code as soon as it is woken up. The system provides different deep sleep modes to maintain sleep at ultra-low power consumption of less than 2μA while maintaining RAM operation. To support user-developed application functions, the on-chip peripheral components include selectable USB, UART, SPI, TWI, ADC, general-purpose timers, and up to 24 GPIOs. In addition, the chip has an integrated voltage regulator, power-on reset circuit and sleep timer.

Support for the home Internet of Things protocol technology Thread

Support for the Thread protocol is a feature of the EM358x family of on-chip systems. Thread is a simplified IPv6-based mesh network protocol developed by a number of industry-leading technology companies, including Silicon Labs, to interconnect the various products in the home, and with the Internet and Cloud connection. Thread is easy to install, highly secure, and scalable to hundreds of devices. It will become a key technology for interconnecting home devices with the Internet and mobile devices. Easily navigate the IEEE 802.15.4-2003 standard

The transceiver uses an efficient architecture to expand the dynamic range requirements, increasing the IEEE 802.15.4-2003 standard by more than 15dB, and the integrated receive channel filter meets other existing 2.4G frequency communication standards, such as IEEE 802.11-2007 and Bluetooth communication standard. The integrated regulator, VCO (Voltage Controlled Oscillator), loop filter and power amplifier greatly reduce the use of external components. An optional high-performance audio mode (enhanced mode) can be used to control whether or not to increase the dynamic range. To meet the stringent timing requirements of the Zigbee protocol and the IEEE 802.15.4-2003 standard, the EM358x hardware integrates a range of MAC, AES128 encryption algorithms and automatic CRC cyclic redundancy check functions. The MAC hardware can automatically handle ACK transmission and reception, and automatically perform delay compensation, transmit idle channel estimation, and packet reception filtering. The packet tracking interface integrates the MAC, which captures all packets from the Ember development kit completely and without interference.
