WPC revises wireless power supply standard for the first time using "magnetic resonance method"

The industry group WPC (Wireless Power ConsorTIum, Wireless Power Consortium), which aims to popularize contactless charging (wireless power supply), has released the latest version of the industry standard for portable terminals under 5W. According to WPC, this time the design of the power supply was increased to 12 kinds. Moreover, there are currently six types under consideration, one of which is the "magnetic resonance method."

WPC has been using the "electromagnetic induction method" before. If the above bill is reviewed and approved, the magnetic resonance method will be used in the standard for the first time. WPC said that the use of magnetic resonance power supply, "the distance to the receiver can be expanded to 40mm."

The official name of the latest version is "System DescripTIon Wireless Power Transfer Volume I: Low Power Part 1: Interface DefiniTIon Version 1.1". WPC formulated the "1.0" standard in March 2010, and this time the "1.1" new version has been substantially revised.
