Osram LED fog lights enter the Japanese auto market

In addition to traditional halogen lighting technology, OSRAM's energy-efficient, long-life JULEE JFLCF2 LED module offers a new option for headlights.

Osram's high-efficiency LED modules, the world's attention, including Japan's emerging market, began to accept JOULE products for fog lighting. Mitsubishi Motors recently agreed to install the OSRAM JOULEJFLCF2 LED module in their 2011 Mitsubishi RVR compact crossover model. This indicates that JOULE was accepted by the Japanese market for the first time. The brand of Mitsubishi in Europe is ASX and in North America is Outlander Sports. Mitsubishi's SUVs are a fuel-efficient, low-emission series, and RVR offers an alternative to fuel-efficient and low-emissions. Osram LED lighting helped Mitsubishi achieve its energy-saving goals, and their partner Aoki Seisakusho made an adaptive design to meet the compact requirements of this model.

The OSRAM JOULE system has superior design and safety. The JFLCF2 module with integrated lens guarantees ideal light distribution in heavy fog, ensuring a clearer view even in foggy weather. OSRAM's light optimization and management of the LED system ensures greater safety for motorists. The front and the roadside are brighter. This product has an ultra-wide illumination angle of ± 50 °. Moreover, for vehicles that are open, pedestrians and other road users can see the lights in a conspicuous manner, improving road visibility.

The JFLCF2 module is one of the JFL2 series products and has been in batch production since November 2009. Since the product has been added with a lens that complies with the EU's new ECER19 F3 directive, fog lamps can be added easily and inexpensively. This is the first LED fog lamp certified in Japan as the new ECER19 F3.

In addition to its superior ecological benefits, this LED module is also resistant to chattering and has a lifetime that exceeds the life of the car itself. Thus, the maintenance of LED lamp systems is far less than that of conventional halogen lamps. As long as each lamp is input with 14W power, this module is much more energy efficient than the 55W power input of the halogen lamp. Low power also reduces the load on the engine, thus making the entire car more energy efficient and fuel efficient.

Nobutaka Itagaki, Osram's product and business development manager, said: "We welcome car manufacturers such as Mitusbishi to focus on their automotive economy. Mitsubishi is a pioneer in energy conservation and environmental protection; their new i-Miev makes the world's first mass-produced electric Cars. Our products can save 80% energy. We are happy to use our LED products to help Mitsubishi achieve its energy saving goals.

Fog lights can be flexibly customized, such as radiators, equipment, etc., and the design can be adjusted according to customer requirements.

Osram Automotive Lighting and LED specialist OSRAM Opto Semiconductors jointly developed the JOULEJFL2LED module. The company's automotive and motorcycle lighting solutions range from single LEDs to standard systems such as JOULE. OSRAM's JOULELED modules can also be used for other lighting functions such as low beam, main beam, brake light, indicator light and reverse indicator light. High-efficiency diodes consume less energy than traditional car and motorcycle lights and can be used in new, stand-alone models.
