I often come across situations where communication between computers and PLCs isn't working as expected. Most of the time, it's not about the PLC itself, but rather the port settings on the communication line. There are several types of programming cables available, such as SC-09, USB-SC-09, and USB (printer cable). When using an SC-09 cable, if your computer doesn’t have an RS232 port, you'll need a USB-to-RS232 converter. Make sure to inform the seller that this converter is intended for Mitsubishi PLC programming — I once bought one for MCU and it didn’t work. After purchasing, you’ll need to install the driver. Once installed, the device manager on your computer will show a virtual RS232 port, like COM4, which should be selected during download or upload operations. For the USB-SC-09 cable, the same applies: install the driver, and the virtual COM port will appear in Device Manager. When connecting a Q-series Mitsubishi PLC via USB, the first connection may prompt you to install new hardware. The necessary driver can usually be found in the MELSEC\Easysocket\USBDrivers folder. It’s important to ensure all drivers are correctly installed and the right COM port is selected to avoid communication issues.
