Teledyne e2v introduces Emerald 67M CMOS image sensor for high speed, high resolution inspection

Teledyne e2v, a company brand of Teledyne Technologies, recently announced the launch of the Emerald 67-megapixel image sensor, adding a new member to the Emerald CMOS image sensor family. With a high resolution and the smallest global shutter pixel (2.5μm) on the market, this new sensor is capable of capturing more objects with a single high-resolution image, making it ideal for high-end automated optical inspection, microscopy and monitoring.

The Emerald 67M sensor is ultra-low noise with only 2.8e- readout noise. With a quantum efficiency of up to 70%, the sensor enables precise defect and particle identification. The speed is extremely fast, which can significantly increase the throughput of the production line.

The new sensor is designed to help camera manufacturers achieve a fast and cost-effective integration solution with an optical and package center that is easy to integrate into a 59 x 59mm2 camera platform. It has an APS-C optical format and is very rare for high-resolution sensors. It supports up to 72 sub LVDS outputs and 8/10/12-bit data formats. The chip is also available in a highly reliable ceramic μPGA package.

The Emerald 67M has a range of application-based features, including:

ROI (supports overlap and independent configuration)
High dynamic range mode horizontal sub-sampling lookup table pixel merge pixel defect correction

Vincent Richard, marketing manager at Teledyne e2v, said: "We are very pleased to see that the Emerald 67M expands our sensor family. It is the first 8192 x 8192 global shutter sensor that operates at high frame rates and is fully functional. We are here for this sensor The development process involved in-depth discussions with major OEMs in the automated optical inspection market, enabling them to have a wide range of application features, such as a unique region of interest model, which helps to improve customer efficiency. Combined with 67 million resolution, Our latest Emerald sensor solves the image instability problem caused by the vibration of the detection system.
