IR Introduces iP1837 and iP1827 iPowIR Regulators

International Rectifier (IR) has launched the iP1837 and iP1827 iPower IR regulators, designed specifically for point-of-load (POL) applications that demand high current. These solutions are ideal for use in servers, network infrastructure, data storage systems, and telecommunications equipment, where performance and efficiency are critical. The iP1837 and iP1827 are housed in a compact 7.7 mm × 7.7 mm LGA package, integrating essential components such as control MOSFETs, synchronous FETs, bootstrap diodes, capacitors, and internal overcurrent protection. This highly integrated design significantly reduces the number of external components needed, helping to cut board space by up to 20% compared to traditional vertical solutions. The small footprint makes it an excellent choice for space-constrained designs. These regulators offer true precision-adjustable differential voltage sensing and a ±0.5% accurate reference for overtemperature protection. Their precise dead time adjustment ensures maximum efficiency, while Body Braking enhances transient response for stable performance under load changes. The devices are pin-compatible for 25A and 35A applications, supporting a wide input voltage range from 1.5V to 16V. They also support programmable frequencies up to 1.5 MHz and offer flexible bias options—either 5V or 3.3V single input. Optimized for 12V input and low output voltages, they deliver reliable power delivery in demanding environments. Other key features include pre-bias startup, overvoltage protection, thermal shutdown, voltage monitoring on enable pins, power-good output, and a programmable soft start function. These features ensure robust operation and system reliability in a variety of demanding environments.
