The main technologies used in pico projectors include LCD, DLP, LCOS, and laser projection. DLP technology, on the other hand, offers high performance and compact size, but it is only produced by Texas Instruments. LCOS technology combines the strengths of both LCD and DLP, offering better image quality at a more affordable price. It is considered one of the most promising technologies for future mass production due to its cost-effectiveness and performance.

In terms of technical development, pico projectors face unique challenges compared to traditional projectors. Key factors such as power consumption, heat management, brightness, and cost must be addressed when miniaturizing the device. The process of achieving projection involves several steps: first, generating bright white light (the light source), then splitting it into different colors, and finally combining those colors to form the final image.

Currently, LED technology is the most widely used light source in micro-projectors. LEDs provide strong illumination, high efficiency, and long lifespan, making them ideal for portable devices. While older technologies like metal halide or UHP lamps were once common, they have been largely replaced by LEDs due to their superior performance and reliability.

A critical aspect of projection technology is how monochromatic light is combined to create full-color images. This process differs between technologies, and it’s where the real innovation lies. Whether using filters, prisms, or other methods, the goal is to produce vibrant, clear images in a compact form factor.

Micro-projectors are now widely used in business presentations, classroom teaching, home entertainment, and more. They allow users to display large images without being limited by screen size, making them a flexible and cost-effective choice.
